Words fail to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...

Words fail to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. In the winter of 1905-06 I was in very poor health, and the physician pronounced my case Bright's disease. I was in business at the time; and when spring opened, I went to Chicago to replenish my stock. The physician advised me to see a special physician in Chicago. After being in Chicago one day, I was taken much worse and called on this physician. The following morning found me in a hospital, on record with a case of Bright's disease. After returning home I was told by my local physician not to return to business, and that I must live out of doors. I was put on the most restricted diet, and given to understand that all this was only to prolong life. In this way I lived for two years, gradually improving until I felt fairly well most of the time.

In the spring of 1911 I moved to Milton, Wisconsin. The following October I was again taken with an acute attack of the same trouble. I would have no physician. I fully understood every symptom, and knew what he would say. I had become somewhat interested in Christian Science, as I had a friend who had been healed of the same trouble. I had read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but not with the right understanding. One evening I was so much worse that my husband was determined to call a physician. I asked him instead to call a neighbor whom I knew to be a Christian Scientist. He came and brought me literature, and asked permission to call a practitioner. This we consented to; and I was treated by her for two weeks. At the end of that time I was able to go to her. After leaving her house, while walking up the street, I knew I was healed. The truth had set me free. This was December 18, 1911. I immediately went to the Reading Room and bought Science and Health, and read it with a very different understanding than at first. I am most grateful to God for His love and mercy; to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her untiring work for humanity; to the patient, loving practitioners; and for the understanding that nothing can separate us from divine Love.—(Mrs.) Katherine A. Eastland Richardson, Milton, Wis.
