Signs of the Times

[From the Record, Los Angeles, Calif., Feb. 19, 1923]

We are in a time of reformation as truly as we were when Luther hammered his defiance on the oaken door of established orthodoxy. "I am not quite sure that we are not going back farther than Luther; we may even be going back to the fundamentals of Jesus, who preached by the wayside, and who brought the message of love from out the gloom and bloodied altars of the Pharisee, and gave light and hope and healing to the humble, neglected multitudes," said Rev. C. L. Kloss of Oakland. Apparently the world needs something it has not been getting in the way of faith. Perhaps less formal bigotry and more human kindliness would be a good thing.
