If Job of old had been at the revival referred to by a critic in a recent issue of your paper, he could have held up his hand with the rest, testifying that to mortal sense boils are painful, also inconvenient. Testifying further, Job might have said, "It was after Satan had gone forth 'from the presence of the Lord,' that he afflicted me with boils from the sole of my feet unto my crown. Besides this and all my other troubles my wife insisted that I 'curse God, and die.' For days I sat in sackcloth and ashes contending with the Lord and declaring, 'Behold, I am vile.' Enslaved by my own thought, I found no relief until I listened to the voice of Truth; for the Lord spake to me out of the whirlwind and said, 'Gird up now thy loins like a man.... Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.' When I declared, 'I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee,' then the Lord turned my captivity and loosed me from mine infirmities." Spiritual understanding healed Job of his boils, freeing him from the power of Satan,—evil. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy has shown us in a very wonderful way, how we also may be freed by the same power that finally "gave Job twice as much as he had before."
