Christian Science churches and societies are strictly democratic in their government, and a Reader or a practitioner should not be regarded as the head of the organization. All loyal Christian Scientists are striving to follow the teachings of the truth as taught in the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and none desire to be leaders. When Jesus perceived that the disciples "had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest," he said unto them, "If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all." The is the teaching of Christian Science.
