When I turned to Christian Science a number of years ago, many healings came to me instantaneously, not so much through spiritual understanding, as through an absolute childlike faith in the omnipotence of God. After I had taken up the study of Christian Science, a friend rebuked me in regard to the smoking habit, to which I had become a slave, smoking from ten to twelve cigars daily. During the conversation I became rather resentful, and said, "I have smoked for over twenty-five years, and I love to smoke; but if I can be healed of this habit through Christian Science I am ready right now." The friend, turning to leave, said, "When the desire to smoke comes to you, meet it with the truth." At this moment the "still small voice" of Truth declared in my consciousness that man created in the image and likeness of God does not smoke. I stood amazed, repeating to myself what I had heard; and from that time to this, eight years, I have not had a desire to smoke.

I have had many other proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science to heal; and my gratitude goes out to God that Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, was pure enough in thought to be the channel for this truth to reach mankind.
