I am happy to bring my tithe into the storehouse, that...
I am happy to bring my tithe into the storehouse, that there may be the meat of encouragement and hope for other mothers, blindly placed as I was before being led to the light of Truth. When Christian Science was first presented to me, I not only condemned, but ridiculed, this sacred subject. I have since had ample proof of Mrs. Eddy's teaching that it is Love, and Love alone, that heals.
My daughter was healed through Christian Science of the worst form of mental derangement known to the medical profession, which, with its very best efforts and kindest intentions, had failed to relieve her. Other methods had also been tried without results, until through a kind friend I was led to Christian Science. Every phase of this evil condition was expressed, from melancholia to violence. When three Christian Science practitioners, one after another, could work no longer on the case, I had reached the point where I would not yield to discouragement, which has been called "the ablest ally of the devil." One member of my family said that I would not be able to stand it; and another said that things looked worse than ever. My one reply was, "Do you know of anything better than Christian Science?"
I now sought the help of another practitioner, to whom I first spoke over the telephone, knowing nothing of her personality; and she took up the work at once. This laborer in God's vineyard continually admonished me to abide by her instructions, but not to rely on her, personally, for she had occasion to leave for the East for a few weeks, during which time I was to work according to her directions. Before she left she declared that the case was met. She said she had had the vision of God and His Christ as all there really is. This was in May, 1919.
