Among the Churches

Current Notes

Oakland, Calif. (Fourth Church).—Three separate services, in place of the usual two, marked the opening of the new Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, on the east side of Lakeshore Boulevard in Oakland recently. The new structure ranks as one of the most beautiful church edifices in the East Bay. For the church site a lot fronting one hundred and forty-five feet on Lakeshore Boulevard was used, having a depth of one hundred and sixty feet. The exterior of the building is quiet and dignified, its motif being derived from the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. The interior of the auditorium has been designed in the Georgian colonial type of architecture, the walls and entablature in representation of French Caen stone.
