Mrs. Eddy's teaching in regard to the unreality of death...

Mrs. Eddy's teaching in regard to the unreality of death coincides with that of the Scriptures. A student of the Bible should differentiate between the knowledge of God, which is eternal life, and the carnal, material-mindedness—ignorance of Him—which is death. To know the truth that makes free is to know the infinite, eternal allness of God, Life, Truth, and Love, which naturally and scientifically destroys any belief of such opposites as death, ignorance, and fear being real or existent. Christ Jesus, our great Way-shower, proved his understanding of God by destroying sin and sickness; and for our eternal example he destroyed the "last enemy," death, by his unparalleled recognition and knowledge of God as Life. Paul exclaimed exultingly, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" Mrs. Eddy's statement, "There is no death," beginning on page 427 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is a scientific fact to be proved eventually by all as followers of Christ's example. "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." While his disciples believed Jesus dead when he was hidden in the sepulcher, he vanquished and overcame material belief, and stepped forth "crowned with the glory of a sublime success, an everlasting victory. Our Master fully and finally demonstrated divine Science in his victory over death and the grave" (Science and Health, p. 45).
