Steubenville, Ohio (Society).—Remarks by Mr. W. B. Shanks, introducing a Christian Science lecturer:—
The constant cry of mankind is for health and happiness. Christian Science, in restating the message of the Master, is proving to the world, as Jesus did, that perfect health and true happiness can be achieved only through spiritual understanding of God, and in the practical, daily exercise of faith, hope, and love. On page 113 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy has written, "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love." So, the members of the Christian Science Society of this city have invited us here this evening to listen to a lecture on a subject, the "vital part, the heart and soul" of which is Love, the Love our Savior, Christ Jesus, manifested throughout his entire earthly mission, the Love the beloved disciple spoke of when he said, "Perfect love casteth out fear," the Love that heals the sick, the Love that redeems the sinner, the Love that is Life itself, the Love that is God,—for God is Love.
