I had tried many times to become interested in a religion, but none seemed to offer the satisfaction yearned for until the study of Christian Science was taken up. I desired to learn of Christian Science solely for the physical healings, little knowing of the great spiritual truth embodied in its message. I had tried many remedies, as prescribed by medical doctors for stomach and heart trouble; but no relief was afforded. After becoming disgusted with medical practice, I had some Christian Science treatments and read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. This was about eight years ago.

It had always occurred to me that the healing work accomplished was due directly to human suggestion or the power of the human mind over matter, but to learn that the operative Principle and healer is God, was quite the opposite of my previous conception of Christian Science. Thanks to God, I was healed completely and saved from what I had thought to be an inevitable death. Fear had so bound me within its border that none other than Christian Science treatments could have liberated me from it. I had little faith in Christian Science when I first became interested, although I had often heard of its wonderful healing power; but after attending some meetings and hearing of its many cures through testimonials at Wednesday evening meetings, I gained more confidence to believe in God's law. The little faith I had, began growing, since in God's universe progress never stops, and within a comparatively short time I felt the liberating influence and power of infinite good becoming manifest,—thanks to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy; for from the day I felt the liberation I have never doubted the power of Truth. The old fear is fast diminishing since the channel for Love is opening.

Christian Science has done more for me than to heal so-called physical ailments. Its teachings have enabled me to reach forth and desire a higher sense of infinite Love, of infinite Life, and infinite Truth. Its teachings continually reveal the absolute ever presence of infinite good, God, who tenderly cares for, protects, and governs man. To learn more of the power of good, to do as Jesus commanded and preach the gospel and heal the sick, is in itself the greatest blessing that has come into my life. The Bible, which had always been a closed book to me, is fast becoming the guide to eternal Life.
