"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there...
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house." The above words came to me very forcibly on New Year's day, and I remembered that I had never expressed my gratitude to God and to our Leader through the Christian Science periodicals, though I have been so often healed while reading the testimonies of others.
About seventeen years ago I came to Christian Science for physical healing only. In my first treatment I was relieved of a backache from which I had suffered from childhood. My healing from other ills came very slowly, for which I am grateful, though at times I was almost discouraged. As I was relieved so quickly in my first treatment I expected other ills just to fall away, but in this I was disappointed and not until my attention was attracted by the Scriptural verse, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you," did I know what I needed. When I began to seek to know more about God I began to experience permanent healing. A few years before I came to Science my father suffered financial reverses and passed on soon afterwards. My mother was delicate and I was overwhelmed with a sense of care and responsibility, and so while quite a young school teacher I was broken in health and my nerves shattered. It was then I decided to ask for help in Christian Science and I have been helped physically, mentally, financially, and spiritually. My nerves are healed and Science has been a wonderful help to me in my work as a teacher.
I am most grateful for my spiritual healing, as in my younger days I was very fond of material pleasures and was not at all religiously inclined. Since coming into Science the material pleasures mean absolutely nothing to me and my greatest desire is to know more about God and to be able to help others as I have been helped.
