Gratitude for Christian Science and for our dear Leader, who so faithfully walked with God that she was the channel for His revelation of the truth to this age, leads me to add my testimony to those being given for the encouragement and hope of struggling humanity. Through the teachings of Christian Science it has become clear to me that, in spite of trials and rather startling events in childhood and young womanhood, Principle has ever been leading me forward out of false beliefs into the light, and that the light will grow brighter "unto the perfect day" of understanding.

When I was nine years old a fall upon three granite steps caused me to be confined to my bed for a year. This seemed to bring about discordant internal conditions which produced continuous pain and suffering. Years of medical treatment, three operations, electrical and serum treatments, failed to heal, and five surgeons conferring could find no remedy but said the condition must be cured or I would not live long. About a year after this a friend from California visited me, whose thought manifested such a change through the study of Christian Science that I resolved to find out what Mrs. Eddy really did, and what Science and Health contained. Not in any way did I connect one thought of it with myself or my condition, and expected nothing from it. I was not acquainted with any Christian Scientists and never had heard one word of good about the cause. Having borrowed first "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur and then "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy from a public library, I became intensely interested in the reading. At the end of three months that book had so changed my thought of God, of life, and of my true self that the healing was complete, and strength rapidly increasing. It did not seem possible and was almost unbelievable, but it was true, and five years full of activity have proved its reality. Many healings have followed this, more in the line of purifying thought than of physical ills. I also rejoice that my husband finds Christian Science practical and available for his needs, and healings in business life have proved its truth to him. Our two children have received wonderful healings also, and the fact that they are building upon the rock, Christ, is bound to give them large blessings as the truth unfolds to them.

Mrs. Eddy gives us these encouraging words in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 341), "First purify thought, then put thought into words, and words into deeds; and after much slipping and clambering, you will go up the scale of Science to the second rule, and be made ruler over many things."
