Signs of the Times

[Ventura (Calif.) Free Press]

Undoubtedly the most important action in religious circles in this country and in the world was that of some two hundred Protestant clergymen and laymen in Los Angeles who went on record as being in favor of healing by faith and prayer. While there are some who will declare this action is a triumph for Mary Baker Eddy, Founder of Christian Science, the real triumph is for the people of God.

The Free Press is not sufficiently conversant with Christian Science to speak with any degree of intelligence as to its doctrine or teachings, but it is mindful of the great good that has been done to mankind through Christian Science. Some of the most learned people in the world to-day hold steadfastly to Christian Science, and probably every reader of the Free Press is aware of some one who has been healed through Christian Science. Some people scoff at the idea of healing by faith and prayer, adding that the person cured "imagined" he or she was sick. Nevertheless, millions of people who have spent much time and money in a vain hunt for physical relief, have finally resorted to Christian Science and have found what they were looking for.
