Since coming into Christian Science nearly ten years ago I have enjoyed reading the literature, and the testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel have been of special interest. At first I read them with a degree of doubt as many of them seemed impossible in their wonderful and quick healing, but having reached a little fuller understanding of the truth that makes us free I wish to give my testimony, hoping those who read may not doubt its truth.

Christian Science was first brought to my notice while I was taking treatment at a sanatorium for tuberculosis; some literature was sent me by a friend with the request that I get a copy of Science and Health and read it. I read some of the literature and looked over a copy of Science and Health, lent me by one of the patients, but could not understand it. I read, and being prejudiced against Mrs. Eddy and all that she had written I laid it aside, not wanting to understand this supposedly new doctrine got up by a woman.

I returned home after six months' stay at the sanatorium, and while taking the cure at home I was again offered the loan of a copy of Science and Health. As I did little else but read I thought I would look over the book to see what it was about. To my surprise it was deeply interesting to me from cover to cover, and I read it through several times before I reluctantly returned it to the owner. This book contained the most beautiful and wonderful healing truth, and though I had received benefit and was doing things, without fear, that I had been taught should not be done by a tubercular patient, yet I was not ready to give up material remedies and depend entirely upon Christian Science for healing.
