It is with deepest gratitude that I wish to relate my experience...
It is with deepest gratitude that I wish to relate my experience of the regenerating and sustaining power of Christian Science. For many years I had been a great sufferer, and had undergone many painful operations; indeed it seemed that I no sooner recovered from one than I was compelled to face another, until at last I became utterly weary of it all, and was not only getting into the habit of wondering what form the next attack would take, but found myself getting daily more wretched and irritable, discontented with myself and with every one around me.
It was after undergoing an operation for appendicitis that I received a letter from a friend in the north of England, whose husband had been cured of a very serious illness through Christian Science. The letter contained what was to me, at that time, a very remarkable statement, to the effect that if I had but known what she knew I need not have suffered at all. Some four months later, when I was well advancing toward convalescence, I paid her a visit and then learned that this wonderful remedy to which she had alluded was Christian Science. Although I had never heard of it before I became intensely interested and took up the study of it then and there, and am thankful to say that I found it all that my friend had stated. I have since proved that the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is in very truth what its inspired author claimed for it, a veritable key to the Scriptures; for it unlocked truths in the Bible for me which had always been obscure, and with a clearer understanding of God as divine Love came improved health, and instead of always having a doctor in the house and relying on materia medica as formerly, I am happy to say that from the first day of taking up Christian Science, now more than six years ago, not a drop of medicine of any kind has passed my lips; neither has it been necessary to call in a doctor, nor, as a professional musician, have I missed a single engagement.
My profession takes me into all kinds of heated and vitiated atmospheres, and as a consequence I was always suffering from severe colds and headaches; these have been entirely overcome, and glasses, which in the old days were necessary, have been laid aside, and for over three years I have been able to read the smallest print without assistance. For all these physical healings I am deeply grateful, but above all I desire to express my thanks for the deep peace and understanding that have entered my consciousness.
