I have long been reading the many fine and helpful testimonies in the Journal and the Sentinel and in every instance have been helped in some way; so it is my wish that this account of my healings in Christian Science may be of some benefit to others.

The fact that I am strong, healthy, and enjoy perfect sight, I attribute solely to Christian Science. Five years ago I was in a very deplorable condition, mentally and physically. An eye specialist had informed me that the optic nerve was partially paralyzed, that no hope could be offered for the recovery of sight, and in time I must be deprived of the use of my eyes altogether. This news was most distressing and the fear within me was terrible. I was under contract to go to Alaska for the summer and it was absolutely necessary for me to go. Finally after much persuasion I decided to try Christian Science and did so with the feeling that I could not be any worse off. I knew nothing of what I was about to undertake and, like many others, was very bitter in my criticisms of and dislike for this religion.

It was just eight days before my sailing time when I visited a practitioner and for the first time in months went home without a blinding headache. The next day I returned for my second treatment, and during this one removed my glasses, which had been worn for eight years and a half, and without which I had been able to see absolutely nothing. That night I attended the theater, something I had been unable to do for months owing to severe pains in my head from watching moving objects. When I sailed for Alaska, I had no glasses on and was healed, in fact had been since the second treatment. I had a most successful summer, not only did my own work, but at the busiest part of the season, the work of another, and at no time did I have the slightest trouble with my eyes. Of course I had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and this I read continually.
