Before crossing the threshold of Christian Science I...

Before crossing the threshold of Christian Science I knew nothing whatever about it. A strong yearning from the heart to love and serve my fellow man led me to this truth. I was stationed with my ambulance at Bedford two months before starting for France, and while walking round the town, noticed a large signboard over a doorway, with these words thereon: "Christian Science Reading Room for Soldiers." It would take too much space to relate all that passed there, but from that time I commenced a new life. My prayer was answered, and an opportunity for real, loving service opened up for me. I have been healed of toothache, blood poisoning, and a scald on the hand; this last healing was accomplished through my own understanding of the truth, and in quick time. What I am most grateful for is the divine guidance I am receiving in all my affairs, and the regeneration and purification of thought; for the true idea of happiness, and the growing ability to realize my heart's desire to love my neighbor as myself.—Robert Pickard, Baildon, near Bradford, Yorkshire, England.
