Christian Science was brought to my notice about eleven years ago by one of my servants, who had been healed after a serious operation and after a physician had given her only one year to live. She gave me the address of a practitioner, to whom I took my daughter, with the result that she was healed of a serious affliction in one treatment. I also had treatment for two weeks, but had no faith that my condition could be healed through prayer, so at the end of that time discontinued it. However, I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, with a Quarterly, and began to study the Lesson-Sermons. I did not expect to be physically healed, but desired to be a better Christian, mother, and wife, and to help my daughter to know the truth about God and man.

About a year before, I had had an abnormal growth removed and was still suffering from a painful after effect of the operation. I visited the prominent New York specialist who had operated on me, and was informed that nothing could relieve me but another surgical operation. I told him that I would go on suffering rather than endure that, but through continued study of the Lesson-Sermons, and reading the Christian Science periodicals, I found myself perfectly healed of this condition at the end of three months. That was the first case of mental surgery that I knew of, and it was very marvelous to me.

A year and a half ago a trolley car struck my automobile, throwing me from the seat, and injuring my right knee and shoulder. I had Christian Science treatment and was able to be about my duties each day, and to be at the desk as Second Reader in church every Sunday. The shoulder was healed quickly, but my family and friends had much fear about the knee, as an X-ray picture showed a splinter of the bone in the flesh and a great deal of inflammation. The sense of fear and discouragement was soon overcome, and with the help of a practitioner I was entirely healed three weeks after the photograph was taken. I have also been healed of acute lung trouble, severe colds, nervousness, bowel disorder of years' standing, and of many sins and discordant mental conditions. For all of these healings I am most thankful to God and grateful to our beloved Leader. I am also grateful for the privilege of class instruction, which has proved a wonderful help to me.
