For over ten years I suffered from a stomach trouble...
For over ten years I suffered from a stomach trouble which was very painful at times. My physician in Florence, where I was residing at the time, diagnosed it as relaxation of the stomach and gave me a remedy which afforded momentary relief, but did not uproot the trouble itself. The war brought me to Dresden, and here I was again compelled to consult a specialist. This doctor said the diagnosis of the Italian physician was all nonsense, and stated that I had gallstones. After taking much medicine and not experiencing any relief I was, however, told by the specialist that the trouble proved after all to be relaxation of the stomach. It became clear to me that I could not expect help from the physician, and therefore, upon the request of my wife, I turned to Christian Science. Within a few weeks all the pain left me through treatment from a practitioner, and I am now able to eat anything and need not wear an abdominal support any longer; in short, I am perfectly well.
I also wish to mention another demonstration. My profession is that of an artist, and one can well believe that it was very hard for me to get along here in Dresden, which I had left twenty-seven years before, and to become acquainted again, especially during the war; therefore I was often without work and money with which to support my family and myself. On one occasion I told the Christian Science practitioner of my trouble. At that time I was just completing my last piece of work at the easel and the future loomed darker each day. Upon hearing my story, the practitioner said that after this work was completed God would surely provide further for me. Several days elapsed before the work was finished, and behold, when the last day came, a letter arrived from a friend asking me if I were in a position to accept some work. Of course I accepted this offer and so was saved from want and worry.
After these wonderful experiences I feel impelled to express my thankfulness for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science.
