A little over two years ago I turned to Christian Science...
A little over two years ago I turned to Christian Science for physical healing, after suffering for about seven years from a severe facial eruption. It is needless to say that I had done everything in my power to relieve the condition and had had medical treatment also; but all this did absolutely no good. I was in a worse condition than before, and very resentful and bitter that I should have such an affliction. I was ashamed of my appearance and took no pleasure in anything. My mother had been healed in Christian Science, so I finally went to a practitioner, and after my first visit felt more hopeful. Treatment was given me for a month or so, and then the practitioner told me that he thought I could do the rest myself. I felt more or less at sea at first, but continued studying. The healing was very slow and at times I became discouraged; still I persevered, knowing that Christian Science was the truth and that nothing else could heal me. The healing has taken place and I am sincerely grateful for it and for other healings, but far more so for the understanding I have gained of God and of man's relation to Him.
Before the study of Christian Science was taken up I very seldom read the Bible, and hardly ever thought about anything worth while or about God, except to wonder why my prayers for help were not answered. I always wondered why we were supposed to love Him and our fellow men; now I know. Christian Science has made me less fearful for myself and others and has taught me how to love my neighbor. An irritable and unlovely disposition has been overcome. I am learning to guard my thoughts and in so far as I do, am able to help others and work out my own problems. Christian Science has made me happy and contented, and I am deeply grateful for the mental and moral uplift received. I am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her wonderful work and am always helped by our periodicals.
