Two years ago, while in a southern city, I was taken with an acute attack of neuralgia in the head and teeth and extending to the shoulders. I had suffered from frequent attacks of this trouble over a period of three or four years. For two days I studied the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" more diligently than usual and applied the truth as best I knew how, and for three nights until almost morning, as I was unable to sleep. The pain during this time was just a dull grumbling, but on the third day it became so intense in spite of my application of the truth, that I went out to ask help of a practitioner. There were not many in this city and all on whom I called were out, so it was clear to me my study must continue. I knew there is a proven rule for all ills and I could, as an idea of Mind, find the way. However, evening came without any relief having been experienced, so I asked my husband to go in search of help for me. It seemed impossible to go myself, I was suffering so much. My husband insisted that it had been clearly shown to be my problem and that it could be worked out, so I took the much loved textbook again and opened it at the chapter called "The Apocalypse." By the time I had finished the chapter I was entirely free and have never had a return of the trouble since.

A short time ago an acute attack of indigestion came on during the night, but I immediately applied my knowledge of Christian Science and after a little while got some relief. Then I began to repeat the psalms and the passages from Science and Health that I could remember, but I felt my lack in not having memorized more from such a storehouse in which is our supply for every ill. I felt a keen sense of the understanding of God as our true supply in all things. This gave me the desire to read, and I read from "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 204), "Truth, searching the heart, neutralizes and destroys error." I had not been able to discover what was wrong in my thought, but through this reading it was suddenly made clear to me, uncovered and destroyed. On the same page Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The divine ruling gives prudence and energy; it banished forever all envy, rivalry, evil thinking, evil speaking and acting; and mortal mind, thus purged, obtains peace and power outside of itself." By the time I had finished reading this most beautiful article, "Pond and Purpose," I was entirely free.

It was not until the following day that I read on page 210 of the same book: "The wisdom of a serpent is to hide itself.The wisdom of God, as revealed in Christian Science, brings the serpent out of its hole, handles it, and takes away its sting." This I felt had been exactly my experience, and I am so grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her inspired works, whereby we are able to work out every problem and draw nearer to God.—(Mrs.) Susan J.
