My whole life has been transformed through Christian Science. I have been changed from a miserable, hopeless invalid into a happy, healthy woman. After a time of great sorrow I had a nervous breakdown. The doctor ordered a course of mineral and electric baths and massage, but they were of no use. A nerve specialist then told me that I had a lesion of the nerves of the spine and would shortly be confined to my couch, and there was no cure. These predictions did not come about, however, for I could always walk a little, though greatly distressed. I became greatly discouraged, for it seemed that God had failed me.

At that time, when there seemed no hope anywhere, a relative advised me to try Christian Science. A practitioner was found, and I was taken to her home in a bath chair. I told her about my ailments, one of which was varicose veins, for which I wore an elastic stocking. I took it off that night and did not put it on again, and I had no pain in the leg. The next day I walked to her office, although suffering greatly, and I have never used a bath chair since. I began reading Science and Health, and although I seemed very slow in understanding it, my health began to improve. I soon could walk much better, and many ailments slipped away. Depression was replaced by happiness and hopefulness. My healing has been slow, but I did not give way to discouragement, for I knew I should be healed when I understood God better. Much fear, self-pity, self-righteousness, and criticism have been overcome, and I am happier than I have ever been.

For the last ten years Christian Science has met all my needs. I have had many healings, some instantaneous. An ingrowing toenail had troubled me for some time. It was very painful indeed, and sometimes I could not bear to have my shoe on. Although I had had many beautiful demonstrations of the power of Truth, I did not think of applying Christian Science in this case; but while with a practitioner one day I told her about my toe and was instantaneously healed.
