It is a glorious privilege to bear witness to the efficacy of Christian Science treatment in two cases of accident. Two years and a half ago, while breaking some wood in short lengths, in some way my foot was placed under the board, receiving the full force of the blow from the ax across the instep. For a few minutes the pain was so intense I could hardly think, but as soon as I could lift my thought to God, I became perfectly harmonious, so that I finished what I was doing and afterwards attended to all my domestic affairs without suffering any discomfort. I walked six long city blocks to attend the Thanksgiving service, then back home without the slightest fear; but after reaching home acute pain suddenly manifested itself, accompanied by quick swelling. All the afternoon I tried to overcome the sense of fear which was aroused, but seemingly failed, so asked for help. When I retired that night, although I was suffering intensely, a great sense of harmony came through the realization that man is a perfect idea of God and could not be enslaved by the beliefs of accident, injury, or breakage, but was upright, pure, and free. Next morning when I awoke at the usual time, I knew the healing power of Truth was not only revealed but demonstrated in its beauty and holiness. The "peace, be still," had gone forth and I was healed.

Eighteen months after the above healing I had a violent fall on the pavement and injured my knee, forcing the bones out of their sockets. I immediately applied Christian Science and mastered both pain and the dreaded results of such an accident to the extent that I walked to and from work, which was more than a mile distant. No discomfort or inconvenience was experienced, although I was conscious of the unnatural movement of the bones with every step I took. After walking wherever I desired and using the leg constantly for more than a week I began to have trouble, and when I realized that the fear of becoming a cripple was filling my thought, I called for help. For three or four days after treatment was begun there was a desperate struggle, but I was not absent from my post a single day and continued walking back and forth from the city. On the fifth day after treatment was taken up I was out in the yard working among my flowers, when I heard something pop twice and the bones snapped into place. Again I knew that Mind, through Christian Science, had performed the necessary operation. To-day both instep and knee are as strong as ever.

Ten years ago I began the study of Christian Science, through which I have gained the peace that no man can take from me, and I am grateful to say that I am enjoying in a great measure the "glorious liberty of the children of God."—(Mrs.) Mary B. Whetstone, Montgomery, Ala.
