Five years ago I came to Ohio from Minnesota

Five years ago I came to Ohio from Minnesota. The dampness in the atmosphere kept me suffering from a cold and sore lungs most of the time, while grief and loss put me into a weakened condition which necessitated an operation. From then on I was never in good health. My husband recommended that I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, but instead of understanding it I compared it with an orthodox faith. I was in bed a greater part of the time and at last was confined there, given up by materia medica. At first I was willing to pass on rather than give up the religion I thought I believed in, but I coudl not understand why God was sending all these afflictions upon me when I tried to do as near right as I could.

I had always said that if I did take up Christian Science, I would have to go into it heart and soul. Finally a practitioner was called. A doctor had pronounced my case tubercular pneumonia, and I was seemingly in great pain, but was willing to give up all material remedies because I had had many doctors and each one had named my trouble something different. I even asked to have the grease rubbed from my chest before treatment in Christian Science was given. My healing was slow, but I thereby gained a better understanding of the truth. Since then a baby boy has been born to us and he is in perfect condition. I had Christian Science treatment and the doctor was with me only a few minutes. Two years ago to mortal sense I was dying; to-day I am healed and caring for a baby. Indeed we have much to be grateful for, and I have learned that there is no law but the law of God, no power but the power of good. None could doubt the power of Christ's healing if they could have seen me before my healing and also see me to-day. I am very thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy and all who are helping to promote the teachings of Christ.
