Twenty years ago I began the study of Christian Science, and as I began to comprehend its teachings and to put them into practice in daily life I found the results to be good only, and more far-reaching than I could possibly have anticipated. In place of discord there began to appear peace and harmony, health was soon restored, and instead of an uncertainty as to God and man's relation to Him there came an assurance of a loving, tender, compassionate Father and of man as His offspring, forever under His care and protection. Within a few weeks after I began the study of Christian Science, our youngest boy, two years and a half old, was taken with catarrhal fever, and in spite of the best of medical attention he was, in about ten days, at the point of death—past all material help. The neighbors in attendance at his bedside thought he was dying, for his upper limbs were cold to his elbows and his lower limbs to his knees, and the expression of the eyes indicated that the end was at hand. Yet the application of the truth as taught in Christian Science saved him, and he was soon restored to vigorous health.

At another time one of the children was pronounced past all material help, because of locked bowels, unless an operation should be submitted to withing the next few hours; and the doctor further stated that in the event of the operation being performed there was only one chance in fifteen that the child could survive. Christian Science was immediately resorted to and within forty-eight hours the locked condition was completely overcome and within a short while after that our child became perfectly well. Another of our children was run over by a heavy buggy and picked up unconscious and in convlusions, the buggy having passed over the pit of her stomach. This was about five o'clock in the afternoon. With no other help than Christian Science treatment she was in school at nine o'clock next morning. Thus without the aid of medicine or material administrations since we began to rely on Christian Science, our four children have been brought through accidents of various kinds and diseases to which children are subject, and are enjoying health and vigorous manhood and womanhood.

I myself was healed of a severe pain in the head by having "Miscellaneous Writings" read to me by my wife, when my suffering was too intense to allow me even to sit down. In two hours after the reading began I was free from all suffering and able to go to my work.
