Christian Science was brought to my notice about four...
Christian Science was brought to my notice about four years ago by my sister, who had been healed of a disease which doctors stated was incurable. I immediately procured the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and read it through carefully. As I read I began to see that its teaching was the truth as taught and practiced by Jesus. I was, however, fearful that its standard was much too high for me to live up to, and that it was almost useless for me to attempt to do so. Friends, however, helped me in the study of the Bible and Science and Health, and then I was better able to realize that God, Spirit, is indeed All-power, Truth, and Love, and that it was for me to practice faithfully what I understood, and thus demonstrate that the truth can make one free, for "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
I am very grateful to be able to testify to physical healing through Christian Science. Nineteen months ago I was instantaneously healed of the tobacco habit, and that at a time when I was smoking an ounce of tobacco daily, and after having been a smoker for more than twelve years. The desire for tobacco in any form has not returned to me, and when in the society of those who smoke, there has not been the slightest temptation to do so. I should also like to testify that my boy, who was cross-eyed, has been healed of this trouble through Christian Science. Whooping cough was overcome for him in just over a week, the cough and other distressing symptoms which material so-called law attaches to this complaint yielding beautifully.
Christian Science has helped me greatly in my business. Sometime ago there was a sense of disappointment in respect to promotion. A post which had seemed desirable for me did not come to me. I was shown, however, that God gives to each his rightful place and work, and that we can most certainly prove this in our human experiences. Shortly afterwards I was offered the desirable post I now hold, which involves careful and wise dealing with a considerable number of men, and I saw this was an added opportunity to reflect Love. I could not to-day get on for one moment without Christian Science, and as we apply its metaphysics to every problem, my wife and I realize that our home life grows happier and happier.
