The testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal have been of...
The testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal have been of great benefit to me, and perhaps mine will be the same to others. I heard of Christian Science first at a time of great mental anguish—just after the loss of my baby, in 1913. A friend spoke of this teaching to me, and at my request she and her husband answered patiently all my questions regarding this blessed truth. I had long been seeking to know God better, and the understanding which I gained in a few hours in the light of Christian Science satisfied me more than years of research on that subject had done. I found what I had longed for all my life; namely, a practical religion, a God ever present, whom I could understand and know as divine Principle. I have learned to know the meaning of the passage of Scripture, "The kingdom of God is within you."
Now in my home with my four children, Truth is the only remedy and has proved to be both curative and preventive. Physicians had said that I had lung trouble, and until I was healed by Christian Science I was often in great pain and seemed to be gradually going into a decline. Although I did not take up Science for healing, but for a religion, to my surprise, after reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I found that the pains had vanished and my health had been restored.
Christian Science has been of great help to me in rearing my children. Soon after I began reading the textbook my little son was taken very ill with typhoid fever, but with the aid of a loving practitioner he was soon healed. Measles, kidney trouble, and scarlatina are a few of the ailments for which the truth has proved a perfect remedy. When my last child was born, very little pain was experienced. Within two days I was sitting up in bed reading, sewing, et cetera; and when the babe was ten days old I resumed charge of my household work. I am very grateful for the beautiful thoughts which a loving practitioner presented to me at that time.
