The True Ministry of Health

AT the present time, when the nations are searching for health, it may be useful to consider what Christian Science has to say on this subject. Christian Science has established a ministry of health. It ministers lovingly and correctly to the sick, the sensual, and the sinner. It has been proved in the experience of people of many nationalities that health must be demonstrated metaphysically by the individual before it can become universal. Certain rules about health are given in the writings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, which bring abundant fruits to those who practice them. These rules are spiritual.

It is generally admitted that Christian Scientists are a healthy people; and what they have gained in health has been brought about by obedience to these rules, which are based upon wisdom, truth, and love, and it only requires pure desire and earnest application in order to learn to demonstrate them. Christian Scientists have gained health through an understanding of God, divine Principle, and it depends upon this understanding how much they are able to prove. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 141) Mrs. Eddy says regarding divine Principle: "Its only crowned head is immortal sovereignty. Its only priest is the spiritualized man."

Christian Science enables one very soon to become his own physician. "Physician, heal thyself," is equivalent to "Physician, know thyself." Christian Science reveals step by step the healing art, thus blessing mankind in the process; for in this Science we soon learn that there is only one way to health, just as there is only one way to harmony. All other methods are temporary and abortive. Mankind has never obtained health through material methods, but in Christian Science the truth of being delivers from evil—sin and disease. The practitioner administers this truth; he applies the spiritual law which is applicable to healing and which is understood and relied on by him.
