My healing of almost unbearable nervousness and pain came through the mental change brought about by the study of the Bible in connection with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I had always found the human mind a most perplexing study and was one of those who having mourned, was comforted by Mrs. Eddy's wonderful book. This book taught me how to understand the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," and when I began to discriminate and to forsake the mind of mortals, according to the passage from Isaiah, "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. ... For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord," I felt a change in my condition, and was quiet.

It was my experience that my former education was of little if any value to me in acquiring the understanding I have gained of Mrs. Eddy's book, for only through humility and a great desire to know the truth that Jesus said would make us free, could I glean any knowledge from my study. Being so willing and anxious to see what Mrs. Eddy had labored to have us see, I was soon able to discard glasses, which had been worn for some years, and my eyes were healed. All the old troubles and ills have been put off, and I am much healthier and happier than in those dark years, so full of uncertainty and fear, before Christian Science came into my life.
