When first I became interested in Christian Science, it...
When first I became interested in Christian Science, it was through the desire to encourage one who, I thought, felt the need of a religion. At that time I was a member of an orthodox church, but after attending the Christian Science services for a while I soon realized that this teaching was all that was good and beautiful, so continued in the study of it. For a number of years I had suffered much from an organic trouble and about a year later asked for treatment, as the condition had become much worse. In about ten days the demonstration was made, and I have been free from that trouble since, now about four years. At this time I also had pleurisy and at times was unable to move, either to lie down or to sit up. When the practitioner was called on the telephone and help asked for, I would have almost instant relief and would be asleep in a very few minutes. My husband knew but little of this teaching and said I might have either Christian Science or a doctor, but if Science did not help me, I must have a doctor. Through my healing of this ailment he became a firm believer in Christian Science, and by reading Science and Health was healed of the tobacco habit and was enabled to give up wearing glasses. One morning about a year ago I found myself unable to stand or to walk any distance; everything would turn black before my eyes. I did not have help from a practitioner but treated myself, and by six o'clock that evening I was able to go to the dining room in the hotel where we were staying and have dinner. I have also been healed of a chronic throat affection.
I feel most grateful for the knowledge that God is an ever present help, that wherever we may be and under all circumstances we have at hand never failing counsel and guidance, and that there are no problems which divine Principle cannot solve. I am thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this healing truth.
