Christian Science came to me through the healing of my...
Christian Science came to me through the healing of my mother, for which I am deeply grateful; but it is for what this truth has done for me that I now wish to express my sincere gratitude. I am a music student, and at the time when I began the study of Christian Science I was very much discouraged about my studies and could not see my way ahead. I had got into a mental state of doubt and distrust of myself and my abilities, than which nothing is a greater hindrance to success, but Christian Science came like a broad beam of light, illuminating all the dark corners of my consciousness, exposing and destroying errors of disposition and belief, some of which were so cleverly concealed in the disguise of virtues that I had never before recognized them, and gave me instead such peace and trust as I had never known before.
Whenever I have turned away from the testimony of the material senses and given my entire thought and desire to the attainment of spiritual perfection, I have demonstrated over whatever the inharmonious condition was. With a practitioner's help many adverse conditions have been overcome for me and the way has been opened to advance in my chosen line of work; also one serious fault, extreme self-consciousness, has been overcome. It was not so apparent to others, but caused me much unhappiness.
With my small understanding of Christian Science I have been able to overcome discordant physical conditions both for myself and others. I cannot express in words what this teaching means to me; it has changed my whole thought and outlook. In place of doubt and fear it has given me courage and perfect trust, a purer sense of love, and knowledge of a Father that never fails me.
