I wish to express my thankfulness for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my thankfulness for what Christian Science has done for me during the last six years. From birth I was considered weak and sickly, and physicians said I would probably not live to grow up. Until past thirty years of age I cannot remember a day that I did not feel tired or sick, although, my father being a physician, all material remedies possible were given for my relief. I had heard of Christian Science, and while at school boarded with a family who were Scientists, but was so prejudiced that I would not even attend one of their meetings with them.
About six years ago, however, my sister came home for a visit and told of cures through Christian Science which she knew to be true. As my suffering seemed to be growing worse, in desperation I at last turned to God for help, although I thought I had always been trusting Him. There were no Christian Scientists living near, so I wrote to a practitioner in Washington, District of Columbia, where my sister had become acquainted with Scientists. I also studied "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Absent treatment was given me for about two weeks, and I was healed of dyspepsia, liver trouble, and a weeping sinew on my wrist. I had worn glasses for thirteen years, but had to discontinue using them, because my eyes became normal and I could not see well through the glasses. Gradually nervous headaches also left me. I had the habit of taking cold very easily, but seldom am troubled that way now, and any erroneous condition disappears in a few hours, as the truth is realized.
During my six years' study of Christian Science I have gained in weight, and my health keeps perfect so long as I study and continue to hold fast to Christ's teachings, which are explained so clearly by Mrs. Eddy. I feel deeply grateful to our Leader for giving to the world the "Key to the Scriptures" which has brought such peace and happiness into my life, as well as the lives of all who learn to understand God. I cannot be too thankful for having learned to know that we live in Him, and He in us.
