Because the statement is not qualified or explained, it is...

Peru (Ind.) Journal

Because the statement is not qualified or explained, it is not clear what the revivalist holding services at Peru meant in an attack on Christian Science, as reported, when he said, "There is (in Christian Science) no sacrificing service in Christ's name." If the statement means that Christian Scientists are not sacrificing self and all that is not Christlike, the speaker displays a degree of ignorance that is amazing, because no one who is the least informed would attempt to deny that Christian Scientists are seeking and striving after what Paul called that mind "which was also in Christ Jesus," and sacrificing all that would interfere with gaining this mind. If he meant that Christian Scientists are doing nothing for suffering humanity, he displayed an equal lack of information, because no body of people give up more or strive to do more for the sick, the sinning, and the suffering wherever they may be found than do the followers of Mrs. Eddy. The fact is that most any construction that might be placed on the statement made by the revivalist shows it to be prompted merely by prejudice.

Our brother said also, to quote his own words, "Mrs. Eddy missed taking the whole Christ." The more common contention of religious critics is that Mrs. Eddy took too much; but the fact remains that Christian Science demands for humanity to-day just what the Bible promises, and its mission is to establish these promises now, as the Word commands. The works of Christian Science prove its claim to bring the whole of Christianity into human consciousness, and wherever one may go he finds Christian Scientists at work reforming the sinner and healing the sick.
