In studying the Lesson-Sermon one day I came to the account of the healing of the blind man, and Jesus' reply to the question of his disciples held my attention. He said, "Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." I had occasion to prove this. My little boy was just learning to ride horseback, and as he was galloping along, he turned to look back. Becoming unseated he was thrown on his head on the stone pavement, with one foot held in the stirrup. The horse stopped immediately, and the boy was picked up unconscious; later the belief was that he was out of his head. He was brought home in an automobile, and as he was carried into the house, I began to work for him as we are taught to do in Christian Science, declaring that God is intelligence and God is everywhere. As my husband is not a Christian Scientist, a doctor was summoned; but my work was done. The boy answered all the doctor's questions intelligently, but the medical instructions were not followed. The pain and fever were overcome through my realization of the truth. The next day the child stayed quiet, but the following day he was in his place at school.

Some time ago, as I was retiring one night, my little boy complained of a severe headache. This trouble heretofore had been followed by a very severe problem which necessitated absence from school. I declared the truth and later on fell asleep, to be awakened some hours afterward by hearing the child groaning. Again I worked for him and then fell asleep, to be awakened once more. This time, as I tried to help him, the loving, yet reproachful words came to me, "What, could ye not watch with me one hour?" I, too, was in Gethsemane. Then my thought went on to others doing the works the Master did, until I came to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy; and as my heart went out in gratitude, I knew I had no problem to meet. Needless to say the boy awakened free and went to school that morning.

We have had other proofs of the healing power of Truth in our family. My little girl was instantaneously healed of earache four or five years ago, and has never been troubled with this ailment since. She also had a case of inflamed nasal passage causing stoppage in breathing. This trouble was said to be hereditary, but I knew that all she could inherit was good, and she was healed in a few treatments. I myself was healed of pyorrhea about three years ago. This was overcome in two weeks.
