I am truly grateful to Christian Science for the great...
I am truly grateful to Christian Science for the great good it is to me. All my life I had been delicate and was continually under a doctor's care. As the years went by I grew worse and became unable to digest ordinary food, so was constantly living on a milk diet, and I was hardly ever free from pain. I knew nothing of Christian Science when I was persuaded by a young friend to attend a Wednesday meeting. I was deeply impressed by the reading from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and most eager to get a copy, which I did the next day. Beautiful beyond words it seemed to me and, if true, meant new life indeed; and so I found it, for since that day, now eight years ago, I have used no medicine and have not had a doctor. During my first reading of Science and Health I was enabled to leave off glasses which I had been obliged to wear every day for twenty-five years. I became strong and well, able to eat anything. The past two years have been quite free from sickness, and my sight also continues good. Though over sixty years of age, I lead a very active business life.
In the spiritual unfoldment of the Scriptures as taught by Mrs. Eddy, I find daily help and manifold blessings, inspiring me to do my best to make known to others this saving truth; and as many remember me sick and suffering, I am often called upon to explain the great change in my life, which I gladly and gratefully acknowledge is due to Christian Science. Indeed, I cannot be sufficiently grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the better understanding of the Bible which her teaching brings. I was an earnest student of the Scriptures and a Sunday school teacher in my young days, yet always was unsatisfied, because so much seemed impossible to understand. They are now my great delight as the Scriptural truth unfolds with the study of the Lesson-Sermons. The Christian Science literature is helpful in every way; it is a splendid education in right thinking.
