Although I knew for years of the many wonderful healings...
Although I knew for years of the many wonderful healings through Christian Science in my parents' and sisters' homes, I would have nothing to do with it. When my little boy was three months old he became very ill. We had a number of doctors attend him, and they all said the same thing, that it was only a matter of time until he would pass on. The strain of watching him grow worse day by day proved too much for me. I became very weak and had to undergo an operation. While I was in the hospital, both of my children were taken with whooping cough. When I came home and found how the little ones were suffering, in my weakened condition I scarcely knew what to do, so sent for my sister, who has been a student of Christian Science for years, thinking she could help nurse the children. The second day she was with us she said, "How this home needs Christian Science!" When I asked her if she thought it would help, she answered, "You do not know how much," so I told her we would try it, thinking only of the whooping cough. What was our surprise to find the little boy healed in less than forty-eight hours of the terrible complaint that had bound him for three years. I realized this was the truth I had been praying for, so immediately took up the study, with the result that in three weeks' time I was able to resume all my household duties, and for over a year now Christian Science has been our only physician.
It is impossible to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for us. Our healings have been many, both physically and financially; but the greatest blessing of all has been the spiritual uplift,—the understanding of man's relation to God, and being able to demonstrate it in our daily living.
