An experience came to me some months ago which so strengthened my faith in the ever presence and power of God as revealed by Christian Science that I am passing it on in the hope that it may prove equally helpful to some one else. For some weeks I had been conscious of a deeper, stronger trust in God than I had ever before attained, and one afternoon, while at work at my typewriter, so full a realization came to me of what perfect trust in God would do for one that I was almost overwhelmed by it. I saw that if one fully trusted God he would be immune from the dangers —accidents, casualties, sudden misfortunes—that to mortal sense continually threaten the health, happiness, and life of man. It became clear that not only one's own safety would be preserved by such trust but all of one's friends and associates would be helped thereby. The joy of this realization so filled my consciousness that it seemed to me I could never be afraid of anything again, and, being alone in the room, I stopped work just long enough to thank God silently for this revelation of His love and protection.

Not more than ten minutes had elapsed when there came the most terrific crash accompanied by the sound of breaking glass. For a few seconds I seemed stupefied by the shock, but presently realized that whatever danger had threatened me had now passed and the only visible result was a slight litter on my desk and the floor, caused by the falling of small particles of whitewash from the ceiling. Being now thoroughly aroused I hurried into the outer office to learn what had occurred and whether anyone had been injured. To my joy I found that all were safe, although the floor and tables were completely carpeted with broken glass, the glass partitions and the front and side windows having been wrecked by the force of an explosion, which had occurred in the stereotype department, which is just back of the office.

All agreed that it was nothing short of a miracle that no one was injured, for large fragments of iron pipe were hurled in all directions, to say nothing of the shower of broken glass. One remarkable phase of the incident was that the windows in the room where I was at work and the two just the other side of the partition which separated this room from the main office were the only ones left intact, the latter two being directly opposite the desk of the bookkeeper, my special friend. The shattered glass had stopped just the other side of her desk. Thus the truth of the spiritual realization that had come to me a few moments previous to the occurrence was perfectly demonstrated, for I had been completely shielded, my friend had been given special protection, and all my business associates were safe. It is needless to add that I went to my home that night with a very grateful heart.—Miss Helen Woodruff, Milwaukee, Wis.
