As the time approaches for a Christian Science lecturer to visit Australia once again, I feel I must express my gratitude, as it was through attending one of these lectures that I learned of the truth which has opened for me the way of freedom from many ills and misfortunes, from which I was told by doctors and clergy there was no escape. The lecturer spoke "as one having authority" and said that the healing which Jesus did on earth was for all time. I had often longed to experience the healing touch of the Christ, but thought this belonged to the past, so that when I heard these beautiful promises given I determined to study Christian Science.

With my mother I attended the services and studied "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. One by one different troublesome ailments termed incurable dropped away, but I wanted even more to know what had healed me. I could not then understand the textbook nor see anything clearer in the Bible, but this thought helped me through those twelve months of wilderness: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." At last the light came, and day by day the understanding grew and unfolded the truths contained in the Scriptures. It has brought God very near to me, and instead of the Bible being to me only a record of past history, read from a sense of duty, I receive comfort and guidance from its inspired pages.

Before we took up the study of Christian Science we were always ill, and could only eat milk foods, but this condition was soon overcome by the application of the truth, as taught by Mrs. Eddy. Chronic headaches, stomach trouble, influenza, and many other ailments have been overcome, besides many disagreeable traits of character. It is five years since we took any medicine, although the doctor has said that if we omitted to take it every day he would not be responsible for the consequences; now we know that our life was not in any drug but in God.
