In the early morning hours of a cold February morning...

In the early morning hours of a cold February morning in 1910, after a restless night of coughing and a battle with self as to probable consequences, I arose, dressed to catch a five o'clock train, and was soon on my way to spend the day with the first Christian Scientist I ever met. Having become very sensitive about my condition (I had been confined to bed almost continuously for two months) I was much surprised, as well as grateful, that this Scientist, upon being introduced, made no comment or inquiry as to my looks or health. I shall never forget that glorious day! The law of heredity was broken for me; man as God's image was revealed, and the uselessness of flannels to preserve God's child was made clear. The healing was instantaneous, and needless to say the flannel jacket was laid aside. In the past seven years I have had but few colds and they have been readily dispelled through treatment or my own study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, whereas before I never passed a winter without many colds and much coughing, and often the summers brought the same.

Several members of my family have also been helped numerous times through Christian Science. I am grateful for our literature, and to all who have helped me to come nearer Truth.—Mrs. Will Vaughan, McHenry, Ky.
