Christian Science has been in our home for more than twenty years, but I did not take it up as a study until a little over four years ago. I received a beautiful healing just about that time; it was not by any means the first one, but it was the first to be brought about partly through my own understanding of the truth. In stepping into the bathtub I slipped and my side struck the side of the tub with such force that I was rendered unconscious. My arm hung over the tub, and this kept me from falling into the water. I do not know how long I was in that position, but when I recovered consciousness my voice was almost gone. I held to the truth and finished my bath, but after getting out of the tub I found that my right arm seemed paralyzed. I suffered terrible pain, but managed to get to the telephone (as there was no one with me in my apartment at the hotel) and called the office girl, who also was interested in Christian Science. She was very much frightened when she saw me, but I asked her not to hold any thought of fear but to remain quiet and help me dress.

A friend then took me home to my mother in a machine, but I had a convulsion by the time we reached there. My mother asked if we should send for a physician, but I said we had had so many healings through the power of Truth that we ought to be able to work out this problem also with our understanding of the allness of God. She was pleased to hear this from me, so began to work for me, and at nine o'clock in the evening I went to sleep and slept all night, not even changing my position. The bowel and bladder action seemed paralyzed, but Christian Science treatment was taken up for that condition and it was overcome instantaneously. The following Tuesday I felt so well that I decided to surprise my mother by going downstairs for lunch, but at the foot of the stairs I was taken with another convulsion. My mother was alone and thought I was passing on, but she held firmly to the truth and in about twenty minutes I was able to use my arm for the first time. I was then taken back to bed and remained there until Friday. My voice had come back and was more natural by that time, and the following Sunday found me again at the hotel where I was employed as a checker, and doing my work with very little uneasiness. In about four months complete healing was realized, except for a cough which I seemed to contract from the fall. This did not go for another month.
