The desire to express my gratitude in every available manner for the benefits received through the teachings of Christian Science leads me to give to the field my experience in Christian Science healing. I was suffering from what was called Bright's disease. I had taken everything that the medical profession could prescribe and tried all the medicines which were recommended for such cases, besides observing a strict diet,—all without any results. As a last resort the physician recommended Florida, and my wife and I started on the trip South fearful that I might not live to reach our destination. The faith I had in the climate and the hope of being better served to help me for a while, but upon returning North in the spring old conditions came back in an aggravated form. My wife was taken ill soon after our return, and it seemed useless to send for a physician as her suffering was the result of grief. I suggested that she try Christian Science, and she consented; so I immediately telephoned to a friend whom we knew to be interested in this teaching and asked her how to obtain the help we desired. She replied, "Call a practitioner, and she will tell you." In a very short time after the practitioner arrived my wife was entirely free from pain, whereupon she insisted that I also should have treatment, but I said that it could do nothing for me, as I had been raised in the Jewish faith and could not accept the teachings of the Christian churches.

During our winter in Florida my wife and I had visited all the churches (except the Christian Science church) in the endeavor to find one whose teachings we could both accept, and thus have a common church home. She had been a member of the Baptist church at one time. It was a useless search. The Jewish teaching, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord," could never be reconciled with the teaching that Jesus was God. All this I explained to the practitioner, who in a few words cleared up those doctrinal points and revealed the Christ as having been always present as the Mind which Jesus expressed. As Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 361), "Christ, as the true spiritual idea, is the ideal of God now and forever, here and everywhere." When this revelation of the Christ came to my consciousness it brought the healing, just as the Christ has healed in all ages. I continued with the treatments one week, but from the first visit the physical ailments vanished. I went downstairs to my supper and ate heartily of everything I desired.

That was almost three years ago, and I have had no return of the trouble. During this time neither my family nor I have ever sought help from material remedies, but we have experienced other beautiful healings through the application of Christian Science. I desire that my life may attest my gratitude to the noble woman who labored so unselfishly to bring the Christ to human apprehension.
