Through Christian Science I have found peace, joy, and happiness that I could find in no other way. I am grateful for the physical healings, but more grateful for the spiritual uplift and for learning how to love my brother man. On page 131 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says, "As aforetime, the spirit of the Christ, which taketh away the ceremonies and doctrines of men, is not accepted until the hearts of men are made ready for it." On page 322 she says, "It is easier to desire Truth than to rid one's self of error."

Before coming into Christian Science I was a regular attendant at the church for some time. I had Science and Health, studied the Lesson-Sermons, bought all the literature, attended all the lectures, but it seemed as if I got very little out of it. I had a great desire to talk with Christian Scientists, as I was in bondage to physical ailments; but I had such a fear of their knowing how little I knew of the Bible. Hearing the testimonies at the Wednesday night meetings and reading others in the Sentinels and Journals, I knew there was something in the Bible that healed, and I had a great desire to know of this truth. Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock; and it shall be opened unto you." I held to these sayings of Jesus daily and my prayer has been answered. I found in the Bible, as explained in Christian Science, the truth that heals, and my struggle to learn of it has taught me the lesson of patience with my brother man.

A year ago I was healed in three treatments of a throat trouble I had had for four years. I had doctored with two physicians, and one advised me to go to a specialist, which I did. After treating me a short time he told me he could not cure me but could give me relief. During the damp and dry seasons I suffered severely, sleeping very little nights from coughing. During these four years I could not sing, or read aloud, as the muscles would contract and I would lose my voice. I had been a great lover of the water, but every time I went on it this trouble came back. Last summer, however, I camped at a lake two weeks; was in bathing twice a day, when the weather permitted; on the water early in the morning and late at night without any return of the old trouble. I am able now to read aloud any length of time and to sing.
