Christian Science has meant more to me than I can express...
Christian Science has meant more to me than I can express in words, and I am a living witness to its healing efficacy, as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. In the spring of 1903 I submitted to a surgical operation by skilled surgeons, but it was unsuccessful and in May of the following year a second operation was advised and arranged for. Before the time fixed, however, I turned to Christian Science and had the proof of Mrs. Eddy's saying on page 463 of Science and Health, "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." Since that time Christian Science has been my help in every need. After my healing I felt that if I could not see Mrs. Eddy, I could write and express my gratitude, and certainly was blessed by so doing, for my letter was printed in the Sentinel of October 5, 1907, and like many others I received letters from far and near saying that it had been a help to the writers.
As those responsible for the regular issuing of the periodicals extend the invitation to contribute, my wish is to be obedient. On page 155 of "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy says: "Methinks, were they to contemplate the universal charge wherewith divine Love has entrusted us, in behalf of a suffering race, they would contribute oftener to the pages of this swift vehicle of scientific thought; for it reaches a vast number of earnest readers, and seekers after Truth;" but I feel as expressed in "Pulpit and Press" (p. 3), "'The evidence of spiritual verity in me is so small that I am afraid.'" On the following page, however, referring to this state of thought, our Leader says, "O thou 'weak and infirm of purpose.' Jesus said, 'Be not afraid'!
