For more than twenty years the truth as taught in Christian Science has been my only physician. At the time I turned to it for help I was suffering from what was called hardening of the and a malignant growth of the stomach, and had been given up by three doctors, who declared nothing could be done except to give me a hypodermic to stop the pain. They said I could not eat any more and might live two or three days. Then my daughter spoke about trying Christian Science as a last resort. She had heard of it resided in some of the Journal sent by my sister, who resided in California. A practitioner was sought and in three days I was up and dressed and ate with the rest of the family. From that time I gained in strength and health, so that I was again able to do the work for a family of four.

For all these blessings I am indeed thankful to God. I am also grateful to all those who have helped and are helping me to clearer realization of the truth, and to Mrs. Eddy for having made practical to this age the truth which is lifting me out of that type of thought which nineteen centuries ago attempted to destroy him of whom she speaks (Science and Health, p.313) as "the most scientific man that ever trod the globe."—(Mrs.) Vienna Willcox, Greene, N. I turned to Christian Science to help my mother when all earthly means had failed. Her sister had sent us the Journal occasionally, but we paid no attention to it. In our dire necessity, however, we found a practitioner's name and asked for treatment with, as you might say, no hope of receiving any help. She was then sixty-six years old.
