So much good has come to me through Christian Science...
So much good has come to me through Christian Science that it is but right to acknowledge it, as I do herewith. There have been many proofs of the healing power of Truth in our family. Physically we have been much benefited, and while I am deeply grateful for this, I really feel that it is the least of our blessings. I am finding that the possession of uplifted thought, as taught in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and faith in the all-power of God to overcome evil, no matter what phase it may assume, are man's greatest possessions.
My whole concept of life has changed. Before coming into Christian Science there seemed little worth while. It took some time to rid myself of that belief, but gradually through study of the writings of Mrs. Eddy, and the authorized literature at the reading rooms, through the gentle encouragement of practitioners and friends, and attendance at services, light began to shine in the darkness. I began to know God as good, as Love; began to realize that my thoughts must be laid as straight to this course as to the line of the plumb—and my first steps in Christian Science were taken. Little by little I made progress; at times the way seemed very steep, but progress was made nevertheless. There came opportunities to prove these teachings, and while at first I seemed to feel that physical demonstration was enough to rejoice over, my joy increased when I found that no matter what the nature of the ill, all could be overcome by Science. In times of stress the truth does indeed supply my every need, and again and again when I take up my daily study I am comforted, strengthened, and fed. There have been occasions when trials seemed to beset us with insistence, but each time they have come and gone I rejoice to be able to say that they left me with a clearer understanding of God, His presence and power, and the realization that they were but opportunities to know Him better.
I humbly submit this testimony in the hope that it may be the means of bringing comfort and cheer to some one who believes himself burdened and heavy-laden, and would recommend that such a one turn to the teachings as laid down in the writings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and thereby be led to the peace "which passeth all understanding," for Christian Science is indeed a staff to lean upon.
