About August, 1915, I was advised by one of our best...

About August, 1915, I was advised by one of our best physicians, who had been treating me for several months, that my life might be prolonged a few months if I would go to a dry climate, as my lungs were badly affected, but I could not possibly live very long in the South. A trip was made to Denver, Colorado, and for three months I was under the treatment of one of the best lung specialists in the West, but received little help. Before leaving home I had been requested by my family, who were Christian Scientists, to try Christian Science if I did not find any help in material remedies. Being discouraged with my condition and seeing very few who were being helped by material means, I decided to visit the Christian Science church to see what this religion was. My first visit was on Wednesday evening, when there were several testimonies given of the healing of disease in every form. It was very encouraging to see so many well people who had been healed of conditions similar to my own, and this opened my eyes. I at once called on a practitioner and within a few weeks was back in Louisiana working at my old job, a well man. I have also been healed of the liquor and tobacco habits of ten years' duration, as well as the habit of using profane language. I have been examined recently and was told that I could get more life insurance if I wanted it. My daily prayer is that I may be worthy of being called a Christian Scientist.
