Extracts from Letters

"You will find inclosed money order for $10.50 from collection taken at Sunday services held by the soldiers in the Vancouver barracks. It is our aim at the services to have all offices attended to by those in uniform, and so last Sunday the two Readers, the soloist, and the pianist were all with the colors. The First Reader announced from the desk, which was a set of wooden steps used to mount a platform and detached for our purpose, that the collection to be taken would be sent to Boston to the War Relief and Camp Welfare committee, and from the expression of gratitude for the work I know that the giving was from the heart.

"For the present the services are being held on an open-air platform used at times for entertainment. It is located in a quiet spot among the fir trees, and with the blue sky overhead and a light breeze stirring, a most enjoyable service is listened to. Our simple furniture adds to it."

"I wish to express gratitude to The Christian Science Publishing Society for the wonderful work they are doing in spreading the truth to the boys in the service through the Camp Welfare workers. Everything that the Christian Scientist could wish for is furnished him free through the Christian Science War Relief and Camp Welfare committee. I have received much helpful literature from the welfare workers since I enlisted. I have been able to see the wonderful work that is being done by the workers because I have been taken care of in every way. Not only has literature been furnished but special services have been held in the camps for those who are not able to go to the services in some town, and whenever the boys are in need of help a telephone call to the worker is all that is necessary to get it.
