Santa Barbara, Cal.—Plans and specifications for the new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, will be completed, it is expected, within the next week or ten days [Dec. 20]. During the past few years the congregation has been growing very steadily, until to-day the Christian Science church represents one of the large denominations of the city. The growth of the Sunday school has been particularly gratifying, and to provide both a substantial and an adequate auditorium and Sunday school quarters the new church building is being planned.

It will occupy the site of the present structure, which will be moved to the back of the lot. While no authoritative statement has been made as to the probable cost, it is expected the new edifice will represent an outlay of between thirty thousand and fifty thousand dollars.
