It is about nine years since I became interested in Christian Science. One morning while I was driving into the city accompanied by my daughter, who had been healed in Christian Science, the following incident occurred. It had been raining the previous day, and the roadway was covered with ice, so that the smooth shod pony was able to obtain a footing only with great difficulty. I gave expression to my fear that the pony would surely go down, but instantly my daughter quoted Mrs. Eddy's words on page 392 of Science and Health, "Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously." She added that if I did not wish the pony to fall down I should hold fast to the opposite thought and declare the truth at all times, whatever the condition. This rebuke, so plainly logical and practical, awakened and clinched an interest in Mrs. Eddy's writings, but it was three years before I had courage enough to dispense with the service of a doctor.

For three years I was troubled with severe pain, which would confine me to bed from two to four days before relief came. The doctor said he thought these attacks were due to gall-stones, but he qualified his opinion by adding that I did not appear to have pain enough for him to be sure of his diagnosis, a point with which I was in entire disagreement. The last attack occurred about six years ago, when I asked my daughter for help in Christian Science, and the trouble was overcome in one treatment. A practising physician to whom I afterward related my experience in detail, said that the attacks must have been due to kidney or bladder trouble, rather than to gall-stones. I have also been healed of other ailments. It is with gratitude that I add my testimony to the thousands which have been published in the Christian Science periodicals.
