Above all else, and unquestionably to a degree not approached by any other religious denomination, Christian Science finds its authority in a strict and spiritual interpretation of the Scriptures from beginning to end. Bible teaching constitutes the warp and woof of Christian Science, and at no point do its teachings differ from the spiritual import of Holy Writ.

The wonderful and unparalleled growth of Christian Science is due not only to the fact that its teachings differ from those of dogmatic scholasticism, but to the fact that it offers present proof of its teachings by "signs following," in place of mere speculative promises for the future. Christian Science is proving itself to be the truth by proving the Bible true. Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them," and in no unequivocal terms did he point out what those fruits are. He said that all who believe on him shall do the works that he did,—that they shall preach the gospel, heal the sick, and raise the dead. Those are the fruits which he taught are evidences of a correct understanding of Truth. In its earnest endeavor to follow all the commands of the Master, rather than merely the one to preach the gospel (which, by the way, cannot be effectually done if one has not the understanding to heal the sick), should Christian Science be subjected to the vilification and anathemas of those who have not perceived their full duty to God and refuse to accept the whole gospel of the Christ?

Christian Science, more than any other contemporaneous denomination, places implicit faith and confidence in God,—in His power to heal the sick today as readily as He did two thousand years ago when Jesus walked the hills of Galilee. No influence has come into the world since the time of Jesus that has done so much toward the evangelization of mankind, that has so stimulated a deep and understanding interest in the Bible, that has so enthroned the almighty God and His Christ, that has so effectually and finally overcome the sins of the world in the lives of its adherents as has Christian Science. One of the most potent factors today against sin and the terrible effects thereof is Christian Science.
